“J’ai beaucoup aimé venir au Pakistan. En réalité, je n’ai jamais eu très envie d’aller aux Etats-Unis ou dans un pays européen, mais j’ai toujours rêvé de venir ici pour de nombreuses raisons. La principale, est que ce pays faisait partie de l’Inde, ce sont donc les mêmes personnes qui vivent ici et j’étais consciente que cette pseudo-différence était juste une manipulation des partis politiques.

Malgré cela, quand je suis arrivée j’ai été très impressionnée par l’attitude des gens envers l’Inde. J’aurais pensé qu’il y aurait une certaine réticence de leur part, qu’ils ne seraient pas très ouverts à l’idée que des Indiens viennent chez eux, mais ils se sont montrés tellement hospitaliers, c’est incroyable.

Nous nous sommes beaucoup interrogés au sein de la délégation de Fedina de savoir pourquoi ils étaient si chaleureux et pourquoi nous n’étions pas spontanément aussi sensibles. Peut-être existe-t-il une proximité naturelle entre Pakistanais et Indiens du Nord que nous ressentons moins en tant qu’Indiens du Sud. Mais le fait que nous soyons du sud de l’Inde ne fait aucune différence, si un Pakistanais vient en Inde, nous saurons comment l’accueillir! »

“I really enjoyed going to Pakistan. Actually, I have not really looked forward to going to the United States, or any European countries, but it has always been a dream to come to Pakistan for many reasons. The main one is that this country was part of India, so this is the same kind of people who are living there and I already knew that this pseudo-difference was just a political manipulation.

For all that, when I came here, I was really shocked by people’s attitude towards India, I would have thought there would be some kind of reticence, that they wouldn’t be very open towards Indians coming here but they were so hospitable, it’s unbelievable.

During two or three days, we have been wondering within the Fedina delegation why they were so hospitable and why we don’t feel, probably because we are from south India and maybe somebody from the north of India would feel the same. But the reason that we are from south India doesn’t make a difference: if a Pakistani or somebody from Pakistan we would know how to treat them. Much more than how we used to."
