Disarmament to combat poverty : an international campaign

ORGANISATION

The campaign is organised so as to try and promote a large and long-lasting mobilisation.

It takes into account that groups from all “walks of life” and different networks are already actively involved on themes related to the peace and justice agendas.
It understands the need to carry further the existing efforts to develop cooperation dialogue and active convergence with all of them.

Hence the commitment of the initiators to set up a very open and flexible organisational structure and to compose an international team as a contribution to the facilitation and coordination of this participatory process.

At local and national levels

-local coalitions: gathering local activists and groups around actions at the grassroots( youth camps, public debates and demonstrations,, cultural programs…)

-national chapters gathering people involved in local coalitions, various networks, resource persons,…;the national chapters conduct debates, define strategies , plan initiatives and mandate delegates to the international committee.(see below); the national chapters could organise the publication of annual reports and their discussion within public hearings.

At international level

- the international committee is composed of: delegates of national chapters, members of international advisory board(see below),members of international coordination team;
-the international committee provides the international perspective, dimension and visibility which are required to assert the strategic credibility and coherence of the campaign;

-the international advisory board: it gathers eminent public figures and intellectuals

-the international coordination team (see above); it is composed of members of the 3 initiating organisations; it could be completed by hiring skills according to needs and means It operates as a facilitator.
