“In Cote
d’Ivoire, FDH supports an initiative to organize
the informal sector.” |
| FEDESI :
As in many countries in the South, most of the
employment in Cote d’Ivoire is found in the informal
sector. FDH endorses the Federation for the Development
of the Informal Sector (FEESI), in its mission to support
entrepreneurs as they interact with authorities to create
plans for development (credit access, communications
access, and market building). Founded in 1994, FEDESI
is present in 36 cities in the country.

| Having identified
a real need for workers in the informal sector to
have access to low-interest credits, FEDESI created
the Mutual Fund for Informal Sector Development. This
mutually beneficial system allows entrepreneurs to
build and develop revenue-generating economic activities,
such as agricultural businesses, construction workshops,
garages, and sewing and shoe-making workshops. © FDH |
